MARKHA VALLEY TREK - STOK TO HEMIS

17
days
DESCRIPTION:

Perhaps the most popular trek of Ladakh, the Markha Valley always dazzles its visitors. Stretching over a period of 9 days and crossing a total of 3 high altitude passes, the Markha valley trek is one of the most pleasant of the region. Going through such a varied landscape, from high altitude camps at the foot of some of the highest peaks in the world, to beautiful oasis-like villages with ancient monasteries towering above them, and green pasture lands with yaks dotting the landscape, this trek is often said to be the richest of Ladakh!

Before and after the trek, Namkha has also arranged a brief cultural tour of the Leh and Sham valleys. Highlights of this journey will include visiting the ancient temple complex of Alchi, getting lost in the fields of Markha mesmerized at the Khangyatse peak towering above, and taking a snap portrait of yourself with a big and hairy yak!

BEST TIME TO VISIT:

With extreme temperatures and heavy snowfall blocking the majority of roads getting in and out of Ladakh during the Winter months, the only adequate season for this trek is the Summer. In between the months of June through September, all roads are open and the weather is warm with abundant sunshine.
