Definitely one of the most popular trekking destinations in the Himalayas, Ladakh welcomes every year mountain enthusiasts from all over the world. With altitudes ranging from 2700 meters to 7672 meters in the Karakorum range, Ladakh offers some of the most picturesque and challenging treks in northern India.
Flocked between the Greater Himalayan range and the Karakorum, the Ladakh and Zanskar ranges display some of the most breathtaking views of the world. Ascending one of Ladakh’s high altitude passes and contemplating the view from there with the sound of prayer flags fluttering in the wind is an experience that has changed many a people.

With Buddhism in the area as early as the first century and its philosophy permeating all levels of the Ladakhi landscape, a trek in Ladakh can truly offer you a profound insight into one of the last bastions of Tibetan Buddhism. The Ladakhi people are some of the most hospitable and kind in the world, always calling you out from their fields as you walk by their village to welcome you with folded hands and say their local greeting “Jule!” Whether your desire is to embark on a short and easy-going walk through picturesque villages or on a full-fledged high altitude trek crossing passes above 5000 meters, Ladakh has plenty of each to offer.

Due to the very low population density in Ladakh where treks often take us far from any habitation, all our treks are organized camping expeditions. This means that following you will be a whole array of ponies that will carry your personal load as well as camping and cooking equipment. On a trek you will only be required to carry your won day-pack and a water bottle.

All the treks in Ladakh follow traditional routes, well-trodden by men and ponies before the days of the road. Daily distances vary from trek to trek but the longer, high-altitude treks usually cover a distance of 10-17km per day. The time spent trekking ranges from 3 to 8 hours but averages 5 to 6 hours per day. We usually set off early in the morning and finish around three or four in the afternoon.
