DESCRIPTION:
With a successful completion rate of 50%, the snowman trek is one of the most satisfactory yet toughest in the world. The reason for this rate of success is due to a combination of distance, altitude, remoteness and weather. It often happens that the passes of the remote Lunana region are covered in snow, forcing the expedition to a halt. To avoid such hindrances the timing of the trek has to be planned perfectly in advance. Going on this trek will nonetheless make you one of the few in the world to have visited such a remote part of the Himalayas, with inexpressible rewards! The trek stretches over a period of 25 days starting in Paro and ending at Nikka chhu in the Wangdue Phodrang district, crossing a total of eleven high altitude passes, the highest being the Rinchen Zoela (5,320 m). The only season for this trek is September to October.
Before and after the trek, Namkha has arranged a brief tour of the western cultural centers of Paro, Thimphu, Punakha and Phobjikha so that you may marvel at the beauty of Bhutanese architecture, religion and cultural traditions.

BEST TIME TO VISIT:
The best seasons to visit Bhutan are Spring and Autumn. During the months of March till May, the Kingdom enjoys beautiful days and moderately cold nights. Flowers are in full bloom and it is also a perfect time to go trekking. The months of September till the end of November are equally sunbathed. The autumn light is particularly clear compared to the Spring and provides a photographer’s paradise! Autumn and Spring are also the festival seasons where you can coincide your trip with one of them. See our festival page here for dates.
