LAKES AND NOMADS TREK - RUMTSE TO TSOMORIRI

16
days
DESCRIPTION:

Famous for its proximity to the nomadic settlements of the Changthang, the ‘Lakes and Nomads – Rumtse to Tsomoriri Trek,’ similarly to the ‘Lakes and Peaks Trek,’ will take you through some of the most stunning landscapes of the Himalayas. Starting in the Changthang plateau, home to the yak-herding nomads of Ladakh, the trek will take you through a number of high altitude passes to eventually reach the crystal blue lake of Tsomoriri. Stretching over a total of 7 days with 7 passes to cross, this trek is demanding. Anyone who has gone on this trek however will surely recommend it.

Before and after the trek, Namkha has also arranged a brief cultural tour of the Leh and Sham valleys of Ladakh. Highlights of this journey will include visiting the ancient temple complex of Alchi, meeting nomads in their tents to share a cup of Tibetan butter tea and watching the sun reflect its golden colors on the surface of Tsomoriri.

BEST TIME TO VISIT:

With extreme temperatures and heavy snowfall blocking the majority of roads getting in and out of Ladakh during the Winter months, the only adequate season for this trek is the Summer. In between the months of June through September, all roads are open and the weather is warm with abundant sunshine.
